Bowling Ball Maintenance

Ball maintenance is the easiest and most important way to maintain your balls performance. Just a few simple steps can help keep that new “out of the box” reaction.

As the ball is used it will absorb lane oil and dirt, the polish will wear off, and the coverstock texture will become smoother, all of which will decrease the reaction of the ball.

 Maintenance Schedule

After every time you bowl

Clean ball your ball with micro fiber towel and ball cleaner to remove dirt and lane oil from the surface of the ball. Micro fiber towels absorb oil while cotton towels just move the oil around.

Every 10 games

Factory polished balls should be polished with bowling ball polish and a cotton towel.

Every 30 to 40 Games

A light resurface on the ball using an abralon (sanding) pad one grit lower than the original finish, followed by a second pad the grit of the original finish. The ball should then be polished if the original finish on the ball was polished.

Every 60 games

Change finger inserts as they will lose there shape and become slick. This will cause lose of revs and backend reaction.

Every 60 to 90 games

A full ball “Tune Up” which includes rejuvenating, resurfacing, and polishing the ball back to the original finish. This will remove excess oil that has absorbed into the ball and return the cover stock back to the original condition.
